Although I can see how these types of doors could be prone to failure, have had clearview on 2 doors for 4 years, works great, no repairs. Even if I have to repair them every 5 years, I still prefer it to a screen door. The kids and dogs have walked into them maybe 5 or 6 times, but they just retract and it hasn’t been a problem. They are the slow retracting type. I’m not recommending clearview at all, but any type with the slower retracting would be preferable if you have kids.

June 6, 2010 at 8:51 PM #560754AnonymousGuestHi Laafterhours,
I’m one of the owners of ClearView in San Diego. I don’t know what part of town you’re in – but you are welcome to visit our factory showroom in Escondido.
Obviously, I’m biased- but we do have the best- and its not even close. If you’d like to come by you can see just about every other brand in our “graveyard” of replaced screens.
To be fair- our closer competitor is Mirage screens. Phantom is similar to Mirage, but Mirage has better service these days.
Let us know if you’d like in depth differences, but I would not consider Casper in the same quality range. You can see some of the reasons why here:
Thanks!

Brave of you to post π
The only problem I am having is that the magnet mounted to the door frame keeps rusting and then doesn’t hold as well. My neighbor with a different brand (don’t know which one) doesn’t seem to have this problem. Any tips?
