And regarding ammo: I’ve been hearing the same thing in LA. A friend of mine went to my favorite gun shop the other day and could only get 200 rounds of 9 mm. They apparently haven’t had a new shipment in a while. She eventually found some after making a few calls, but this would have been unheard of a couple of years ago.
Partypup: Check out http://www.cheaperthandirt.com. I just purchased 1,000rds of 5.56mm NATO and 1,000rds of 7.62mm NATO from them, as well as a load of pistol ammo (.40 Smith and .45ACP), without a problem. Prices weren’t great, but not overly expensive, either.
Reloading supplies, especially brass, are getting back to reasonable prices and availability, too.

October 15, 2009 at 10:40 AM #469361Allan from FallbrookParticipant
The load will be shared. We are going away from a unipolar world to a multi-polar world.
SDR-That question has probably been going on behind closed doors for a decade or more. It’s way beyond our pay grade. We are just observers.
Arraya: Which “load” are we talking about? Are you talking about from a military and security standpoint, like the UN or NATO? If so, I have to be the first to point out that that setup doesn’t work so well, as evidenced by Rwanda, Somalia, the Balkans, etc.
NATO is absolutely useless, as Afghanistan has made us painfully aware and the UN is even worse (see above examples for how truly worthless the “fighting” forces of Holland, India, Pakistan are, not to mention Germany or Italy).

October 15, 2009 at 10:49 AM #469376SD RealtorParticipantI guess that is what I am confused about as well Allan. On the one hand our nation will go to crap. I will not argue about that. On the other hand there will now be a “collection of nations” that will “carry the load” be it humanitarian or military wise.
I guess no I do not buy that.
So the premise is that we will all go to crap but in the new world order there will be a more collective environment that will make the world better.
Okay so I guess I am “clinging to nostalgia” when I say I don’t agree with that hope. To me the world will be a worse place.
Again, not an argument that things will get worse here but definitely an argument that the world will be better off.
