svelteParticipant
Definitely go with the translucent underlit top. Very cool!
I like the way Garcia’s restaurant in Encinitas (on Encinitas Blvd.) did their bar, just in case you’re looking for more ideas.
Have you thought of building your own bar? You could get really creative and have fun with it! :)
Yes, I’m getting frustrated in my search so I am indeed circling around the idea of building my own. I think it would be fun!
Besides, the more I think about it, the more set I’m getting about the design. And I have no idea why, but even simple run-of-the-mill bars are expensive. I think I could build my own for less money actually…I’ll stop by Garcia’s next weekend to take a peek at theirs, thanks for the idea.
And no problem Ox…maybe since I missed all the adult fun of the 1960s wifey and I are trying to recreate it now.
Besides, I just spent the weekend at furniture stores (looking at living room furniture) and I can tell you for sure that the contemporary-yet-1960s look is IN big time right now!

ParticipantYou could make a bar that is a bit more than a ‘bar’. Place a large flat steel grill in the center.. almost Benihana’s style (Mongolian grill) place cold plates or recessed cold well(booster box) to either side.

svelteParticipantHas it really been 2 years?
After on-and-off research for apparently the last 24 months, we finally made a decision. We found a supplier that could make a bar top like the one shown here under “Christensen Shipyards”:
http://www.evo-lite.com/showcase.html
It should arrive before the end of summer. Now I gotta build a bar to go under it…

Which makes this the opportune time to ask the question: how do I do that?
I know HTML well enough to reference a pic at an external site, but how do I embed a pic in my post making that pic stored on piggington (without a URL)?

You have a few options.
1. You can click on the “Add image” button below the area where you type text, and then you can upload the image onto this website (the image size is limited, so you might have to reduce the size)…
Like this…
[img_assist|nid=16298|title=add|desc=|link=node|align=left|width=466|height=482]
2. You can create a picasaweb public account, and just embed an html link to that public account…
