ParticipantI wouldn’t touch Home Depot for carpet or anything that required much customer service especially responsibility for quality and details. If the Home depot price is lower see if costco will match the quote.I don’t know if they do that? I am buying materials to build a house now. When I ask for price quotes, almost every store is letting me know they will bid aggressively or in some cases just discounting stuff so I will go back.
We recently bought Shaw carpet and are very happy with it. I bought it at a discount flooring store in Lemon Grove.

ParticipantHi there Aecetia,
During my online travels in the land of carpeting, i stumbled onto this thread (and a couple of others that noted the same thing about “corn rowing” and Dyson vacuums).
http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1735761
I have no idea if it’s true…could be just some pissed off carpet consumer.
Yes, FLU, I realize it’s possible to get (as my husband often says) “spun up” about these types of things.
However, before spending thou$and$ on anything, I like to find out WHAT it is I’m buying and what possible alternatives exist.

ParticipantBoth my sister and I (in two different states) bought carpet from HD and had TERRIBLE experiences. Mine was nearly heading for a lawsuit. They screwed it up so badly – didnt finish a room, crooked runner going up the stairs which they then came back to fix (after months of fighting about it)and it was still crooked! I got sick of it – and the runner is still crooked to this day… My sister’s was about the same (wish I’d asked her before I bought mine). The contractors (all THREE different ones they sent out to us over the months of ridiculousness) were brain-dead fools. Go to a real carpet store and buy something on-sale – it’ll still be better than the top-of-the line installed by HD.
