Um, north Korea gets crazy every now and then.
They blew up the entire cabinet of south Korea one time.
They bombed a few jetliners too.
The t Rick is to wait them out.
If we had more people traveling to NK, it would show the nor Koreans they have been screwed.

The best we can do for the North Korean people is to open up their economy.
The model should be how we dealt with Communist Vietnam. Since Clinton normalized relations with Vietnam their country has liberalized; there has been a decade and one-half of phenomenal growth and millions were lifted out of poverty.
The children of the Communist elite are studying in the West; and Vietnam is now an integral part of the world’s economy.North Korea needs jobs and can provide plenty of cheap labor. South Korean corporations need cheap labor and they have the capital to invest (like they invested in China and Vietnam).
Sure, North Korea has nuclear weapons so that’s something to be dealt with. But isolating North Korea further serves no purpose at all. All that does is cause the leadership to hunker down and become more beligerent.

I would support a model like this if it is at all doable. But comparing NK to VN is like comparing orange and apple. VN was actively looking for improving relations with the US as much or more as the US was. NK has been doing the opposite, pretending to get US cooperation by threatening and open more conflicts. NK also won’t be allowed by China to move closer to the US even if it is a geniune move.
Anyway, here is some news:
