Thank you so much for the detailed advice. It gets better everyday with the anti-inflammatory Rx. I’m starting to think I may get lucky. I just got back from the MRI and get my results tomorrow. The coolest part is they sent me home with a CD of the images w/ software for viewing them. I just checked it out. Wish I knew what I was looking at.

I think I might be one of these “loads” of people, eaves. I belonged to a local running club for many years in my younger days where we ran a lot of hills and also pavement in dtn SD. I went thru several pairs of shoes back then. I think I might have done this to my knees, esp my right knee, but never did anything about it (always had an HDHP).
I don’t run anymore but sometimes have pain when walking stairs. Both knees hurt after about 5-6 hrs of skiing for the day (by about 2:30 pm), particularly my right knee. This is after wrapping them both in neoprene (dbl-wrapping my right knee) before going out there when the lifts open. I always hit the hot tub after skiing and then take ibuprofen or naproxen and am good to go the next morning. I also use liniment on them before I wrap them (making them very hot for awhile).
I used to be able to do this for 7 days in a row but in recent years, have only skied for 3-4 days in a row. Not sure I can ski for 7 days straight any more without at least a day of break in there :=]
Maybe someday when I have an extra $5K-$8K laying around for copay/coinsurance, I’ll look into the arthroscopic surgery. Or decide to do it in a year where at least my deductible has already been met. I have had both knees x-rayed and do not have arthritis.
eavesdropper, do you know you can get 3M scrubbers to stick on long poles to scrub/strip floors while standing up? They’re at Home Depot. That’s what I use :=)

March 22, 2011 at 2:04 PM #680800sdrealtorParticipantI have got to be the luckiest bastard in the world. At 47 I can still hold onto my claim of being bulletproof. The MRI showed lots of inflamation but no tears anywhere. Based upon my life’s history of physical activity both my primary and the radiologist were shocked how good everything looked. After all I’ve put these knees through that is no small miracle.
Dr said take it easy for 3 wks but Mt Baldy just got 4 ft of snow and hell I’m still bulletproof.
I do think my running days are probably over though. Better ways to exercise than that.
Thanks everyone for the input. See you on the slopes:)
