Interesting. That’s good to hear.
I would still be cautious about returns to Amazon… Several years ago, when Kindle’s first came out – they cancelled a customer’s account because of what they deemed excessive returns. Ok – that makes sense from the non-digital point of view… but it impacted his kindle books, too. He lost access to books he’d paid for. After some finagling, he got his kindle access back. But it created quite a bru-ha-ha at the time.
It made me more than a little nervous about returns to Amazon.

July 31, 2012 at 9:41 AM #749291DataAgentParticipantAmazon did the same thing on two of my returns in the past year. The first one surprised me but on the second one I sort of guessed they would do it.
The ‘no return’ cutoff seems to be in the $10-$15 range.

Turbotax, quicken, quickbooks. Kinda have to because I also routinely buys stuff for business/rental and if since it’s from the same account.
Besides it won’t matter soon because in CA Amazon is starting to auto collect pretty soon.
Then again, I don’t have issues getting accounting/tax software. Being a former employee with a lot of friends still there. I can get most of the tax/finance products at 1/3 the cost of retail via friends and family…
Helps to have a lot of friends in tech/software… Xbox games were pretty cheap for some time from the Microsoft store, as well as the O/S….August 2, 2012 at 12:08 PM #749392sdrealtorParticipantYou pay for Intuit products? You need to upgrade your friends;)
August 4, 2012 at 12:27 PM #749473earlyretirementParticipantAmazon.com is absolutely the BEST! Especially if you have the Amazon Prime. They always overnight or 2 day air all the stuff I buy.
It makes shopping so easy when you can literally get things delivered right to your front door. I’ve bought big bulky things like 8 foot ladders.
The returns process if you’re a Prime member is super simple. A few months ago I bought a Trailer hitch for my Audi Q7 SUV. It was heavy.
It turned out that U Haul wouldn’t install a hitch they didn’t sell so I decided to return it. The returns process couldn’t have been easier. They didn’t charge me a cent and UPS came the next day and just picked it up from my front door. I wasn’t even home.
I use Amazon for as much as possible. It’s amazing all what you can buy online. GREAT service and easy returns.
August 7, 2012 at 9:51 PM #749668briansd1GuestI second earlyretirement’s comments.
It’s cheap and convenient to buy many almost anything on Amazon. I believe that they make money on ads and selling data in addition to the products.
I recently bought dog combs, soap dispenser, shower heads, etc… all cheaper than Home Depot.

I also have stock in the company, so it’s in my best interest to pay. And considering a lot of my sweat went into their infrastructure, yeah I need to pay…

Brian,
Since you asked, what do you use to report keep track of your CA sales tax you’re suppose to pay for your amazon purchases? Inquiring minds want to know too…
Last time I checked, Democrat Liberals, don’t have a get of jail free card on that one, even if it means to “better support their family”
🙂Hey, now that it’s officially legal to deduct mello ruse, are you gonna keep your side of the bargain and start paying sales taxes your self, like you promised on a post you made a year back.
Don’t worry, I won’t forget. Because I don’t forget most of what people say…
August 8, 2012 at 10:06 AM #749731briansd1Guesti put my amazon receipts packing slips in a shoe box. I’ll give it to my accountant.
Amazon will charge taxes later this year. So the issue will go away.
