    So ADT wants to charge me something like $175 to come out and change the designated entry/exit door from the front door to the back door.

    Sounds like a ripoff to me. This should be an easy programming change.

    I’m now thinking about not having monitored service at all. ADT sounds like a scam to whom you pay every month but don’t get much back in return.

    Do any of you know how to program your own system, for example to call your own cell phone number if there’s an intrusion?

    Just pretend it is new state mandated fee. No objections then, right.

    It probably involves a wiring change as the other doors are looped on a ‘zone’ and would need a dedicated ‘zone’ for the main entry.

    I agree with DataAgent. The signs are an effective deterent. A thief is likely to go with the path of least resistance.

    I bought a couple of authentic ADT signs on ebay a few years ago for +/- $20 a pair and have had them in my yard with no alarm ever since.

    I bought a couple of authentic ADT signs on ebay a few years ago for +/- $20 a pair and have had them in my yard with no alarm ever since.
