I had seen a situation that was interesting.
… They all know each other. The couple that paid their check invites the couple passing by to sit down at their table. Then a few minutes later, the couple that paid their bill then leave and the couple that had been walking by are still sitting at the table and place their food order.
The three people waiting for the table are pissed.
That would piss me off. And I’ve seen this happen at Osteria Romantica near La Jolla Shores. I complained, when finally seated, and they comped me a glass of red wine. That made up for it.
We seem to get a lot of comps. Less-than-optimal table? Comped deserts. Wait 5 min when we have reservations? Free wine. Delay in ordering? Appetizers on the house.
And we don’t even ask for it! Not sure if it is because we are so polite or because I have an extra cute wife…
It means you’re eating at massively over priced places.

May 7, 2010 at 8:40 PM #547883HarryBoschParticipantPatience. The older you get the more you realize that very little matters in life.
Someone cuts you off, it really doesn’t matter. It doesn’t stop you from your goals, from seeing your wife, your kids, your family.
Someone complain about you, turn it around, vow to improve so no one can ever complain again.
Someone goes in front of you in a line, beats you to a seat, gets your parking spot – it’s all little things. Things that don’t matter.
If you can’t articulate your number 1, 2 and 3 priorities in life then you’re always going to get caught up in the little things that don’t matter.
