The banner at the top of this website reads “San Diego Housing Market News and Analysis”. I said “Maybe we can get back to talking about real estate”. Nowhere there did I say it was the one subject we should talk about.
Then go the right Nav bar. Investing articles from Rich. Recent housing market articles by Rich. This is his place of business. Sadly this place was highjacked by Brian years ago. He turned it into a place wasting nearly all the discussion on one subject.
When one gets banned it does not come with an invitation to create a new profile and come back. If it was my house I would have immediately sent him packing again but it is Rich’s and we have to respect that. I hope he will have better judgement when Brian comes groveling back as we know he will. He does not merit a 3rd chance but again its Rich’s house.
And for the record, I hate Trump as much and probably more than you do. I have for over 40 years with a lot of personal history beyond politics. I know many of the people here personally that you try to create Trump debates with and they dont care for him either. Its kinda the one subject you want to talk about. We dont even have Trump trolls here. It is silly, beyond tiresome and distracts from the great mission our host embarked upon.
Hopefully the active forum topics list will begin to reflect his original mission a bit more going forward and we can make this place great again.

JoshJune 24, 2020 at 9:06 AM #818456Rich ToscanoKeymasterThe real issue IMO is that RE just isn’t interesting any more. It was interesting during the bubble, and then during the crash. Now, it’s boring. It’s been the same story for years now (prices high but rates low, etc etc).
Even the global pandemic and financial panic didn’t really move the dial on the local market, as sdr pointed out with his realtime updates.
Real estate is boring now! And that’s why people don’t discuss it much.
Brian was annoying, but he wasn’t the cause of that imo… he was just filling a void. The problem was that he was doing so in a very self-righteous, partisan, and inconsiderate manner.

I would be interested in learning about the trend(s) of commercial real estate. I think that is one area that could be incredibly interesting. I just don’t understand it.
June 24, 2020 at 9:50 AM #818461sdrealtorParticipantWhile not as crazy as it once was I don’t think it’s boring nor do I think it should be the only thing we talk about. But it certainly should have a more prominent place here than it has for the last decade. And you can go to pretty much any discussion board or social media site and get your fill of politics. It would be nice to have a place to talk about investing in whatever without all of the Political rhetoric and divisiveness that is everywhere else
June 24, 2020 at 10:11 AM #818463outtamojoParticipantThe stock market notwithstanding commercial re prices seem like they could get interesting with a lot of businesses just not coming back. I have no experience or understanding in this area but the liability part scares me the most as you are exposed to a lot more potential litigants.
June 24, 2020 at 10:49 AM #818464CoronitaParticipantCall me a optimist, but I was hoping if commercial RE has a problem, than perhaps there would be effort to relax zoning rules such that some of the commercial RE owners end up tearing down or redoing some of those commercial RE and making them residential housing of some sort.
June 24, 2020 at 11:41 AM #818465barnaby33ParticipantHow often does re-zoning even occur?

Josh[/quote]Good question. Like I said, I have no idea and was hoping someone who would know could jump in.n
June 24, 2020 at 2:17 PM #818469sdrealtorParticipantI know it does and pretty sure I can think of one locally. Didnt they tear down the Sears at UTC to replace it with multi family units? Generally speaking downzoning from commercial to residential seems to be much easier than upzoning from residential to commercial. But not my expertise and would defer to someone with more knowledge on that than I
I owe everyone an update on the home page. ran the data yesterday but need to do the write up now.

What??? Is that what’s going in place of Sears?
June 24, 2020 at 4:33 PM #818476sdrealtorParticipantIm not sure. I heard that but could be wrong. I know there has been talk of turning old malls around the country into senior living complexes and residential. This was the mall closest to where I grew up and I spent a lot time there in the 70’s. At one point it one was one the largest and nicest malls in the US. It has been redeveloped into mixed use including residential.

I disagree that it’s silly. I think it’s the most important debate to be had right now. If it’s tiresome for you, put me on your ignore list.
A majority of my political posts are about truth and lies. So many of the reasons that trumpers support him are lies. (Not that supporters are lying, but they believe the lies they’re being told.) I try to point out those lies when they’re used to support trump (or used for anything else). That’s not “starting an argument.” It’s pointing out the lies that are destroying our country.
I’m pretty sure I haven’t started trump debates with “many” non trump-supporters other than pointing out lies. I think your memory might not be serving you well, there.
June 24, 2020 at 9:00 PM #818478sdrealtorParticipantI know the people you debated with here. None of them are trump supporters. It’s silly because there are no trump votes to turn here. Put your efforts where you can be effective on places like the facebook.
Btw. I’ve been told through out my life I have a borderline photographic memory. It’s always served me extremely well.
I have no argument with you. Stop trying to create that here with me or anyone else. Lets talk about other things knowing we are pretty much in agreement that he suck’s. We can do better here
