GuestVery nice parade and block party. 3,000 or so folks.
Theme was conservation/green (must have been driven by the public school teachers and like-minded parents at Bird Rock Elementary). Thank goodness there was a Hummer float, complete with kids in camouflage hats, to offset the Prius float.
There appeared to be two faintings of libs when someone played “God Bless America” over the PA system near the food stands.
Lots of good looking dogs: Coon Hound, King Charles Spaniel, Russian Wolfhound, German Pointer, Greyhound, Beagle, in addition to the usual Labs, Pugs, and Retrievers.
Color report: not very diverse. No blacks, one oriental, three Mexicans, numerous Barbara Streisand/Barry Manilow lookalikes, and the rest plain — but tanned — vanilla.

ParticipantWe had a nice parade in Mira Mesa yesterday too. I didn’t see a whole lot, because I was walking with my son’s cub scout troop. But what I did see was very diverse. Which makes sense, just like Mira Mesa in general. The fireworks were spectacular as usual as well.
