Under $19K -$19 -$567June 11, 2008 at 10:54 AM #221424EugeneParticipantIt looks good on paper … My problem is this. McCain wants to cut taxes across the board and continue the war. US government already has a huge budget deficit. Where’s McCain going to find money to fund this tax cut?? At least Obama’s plan is more fiscally sound.

It’s just not a good idea to have a massive civil war and Iran interfering with it and possibly becoming the powerhouse in that region. If it does get more stable and it’s safe to pull out, I think the Democrat controlled house and senate will force McCain to pull out.
Under both plans, all American taxpayers could pay a price for their tax cuts: a bigger deficit. The Tax Policy Center estimates that over 10 years, McCain’s tax proposals could increase the national debt by as much as $4.5 trillion with interest, while Obama’s could add as much as $3.3 trillion.
So it seems like both will put us in the whole unless we massively cut back on government spending.
