because comfort is weakening and killing us.
no more temp control!
also, i recently abandonned soap and shampoo. its a scam!!! water and a washcloth are fine.
Humm. We have a lot in common. I’m not as smart and funny as you though.
I have abandoned soap and shampoo a long time ago. My skin not dry, it’s clear and smooth. Soap and shampoo and lotion after is a scam to sell products.
I agree in general about tough. But I’m special, I can do tough in the right context and I have. But most people who are used to comfort can’t deal with anything different than what they are used to.
AC is part is why the population is fat. It affects metabolism.
There is correlation between AC and population weight.
day 5, no soap. feel my natural oil returning. dandruff feels, less dry and itchy. looking into homemade deodorant recipes
Very interesting. I’m lucky I don’t smell and don’t sweat a lot.
And I’m very sensitive to odor — cooking odor, or bedroom smell, the typical household smells are gross to me. I only wear clothes one time before wash. I don’t wear any sweaters or anything that absorb odors that cannot easily be washedI do shower once or twice a day to rinse off. But I don’t use soap, shampoo or moisturizers, except soap sparingly on dirty parts. I got the idea years ago in Thailand where I saw people jump in the river. It’s tropical over there and the country people just jump in the river or they scoop water from a big water storage trough and douse themselves over the head several times a day.

A 2-3 yr old i8 is a steal right now.
August 15, 2018 at 1:16 PM #810689gzzParticipantMy house is more than 100 years old and has a large insulated attic you can stand up in, no crawl space.
One 15k btu AC for the living room and 8k in the bedrooms works OK for now. Half the time I run them in dehumidify mode rather than cool, it is only the 80F+humidity days that get to me.
The home automation I would really like is a “summer night” mode that around 10pm would open all the windows, turn on all the fans, and let the cool summer night air circulate, then seal thinks back up at 9am.

Fan automation is easy. But self opening and closing windows, I don’t think so.
August 15, 2018 at 7:20 PM #810691spdrunParticipantCasement windows are easier to automate. Also, you could just have a whole-house fan with an intake on the outside.
August 15, 2018 at 8:53 PM #810692moneymakerParticipantWhole house fan is enticing as I think there are better ways to do things than just the way we have always done them. My brother does AC for a living and he says the whole house fans bring in too much dirt/dust, that’s the main reason I haven’t done it yet. Anyone disagree with him?
August 15, 2018 at 9:03 PM #810693scaredyclassicParticipanti may stop showering and just use a basin.

I want to try switchable private film that go opaque.
I wonder when those type windows will become common place and cheap. They’d have be wired with electric.Alas, the home of the future has been so slow in developing.
