Well, if there was ever any doubt that in absence of MEW, people would turn to credit cards to continue spending, this definitely proves that they will.

Not surprising. People will inexorably keep in borrowing more to keep up the lifestyle. That’s the very reason I think that homeowners will walk from their houses rather than do without everyday luxuries (nice clothes, starbucks, etc…). Those are much easier to afford and to indulge on than that mega mortgage.

Maybe a good number of people are going on pre BK binges? I don’t know much about BK. I know a person who did this about 10 years ago. He remodeled his house on credit cards for which he fudged his income to get. He knew just the right amount to run the cards up. I think it was 65K. He homesteaded his house, volunteered to get laid off from his job and did the BK.
