Most of the earnings reports tomorrow – and most of this week – will come from banks and other financial services companies. You are one of the world’s great optimists if you expect to see better-than-expected results out of this group. I suppose stranger things have happened. But not by much.

January 21, 2008 at 10:23 PM #140418anParticipantI’m not expecting positive numbers, but I think the worst is being priced in right now. So any sign of life in those number might cause a short squeeze. We’ll just have to wait and see. But you’re right, I’m an optimist.

The only debate is how bad not good or bad. Regardless of the numbers, the emotions will drive this to a record day IMHO. I don’t even want to look at my overseas and emerging market funds.
