Seal Beach: safety concern, right?[/quote]
No, Seal Beach is safe. You might have some annoyance type crimes if you live near the beach, which is a large, public beach. I think it’s Los Alamitos schools, which are pretty decent if I recall correctly.
That’s not a commute I would want to have to make every day though. About 20 miles on the 405. Not the bad part of the 405, but the 405 doesn’t really have any good parts.
For working in Gardena, I would try to stay close if I could afford it. PV, Torrance, Manhattan Beach, Santa Monica, etc. All have the amenities and walkability asked for. Also very pricey.

February 16, 2009 at 12:25 PM #347277CostaMesaParticipantSafety of what? A buncha Leisure World folks driving around in golfcarts and terrorizing the neighborhood? Please. OK, some of these folks can smell pretty bad.
No greater risk of hooligans in SB than PV has from San Pedro. Probably less.
FLU – Are you worried about the Navy base? I simply do not understand what you’re getting at…unless it’s an anti-OC dig that went over my head.
Belmont Shore is adjacent and quite nice also, if being in LA County matters.

Maybe I’m confusing seal beach with something else, but I thought Seal Beach was proned to gang activities. Maybe I’m thinking of something else. Pardon if that is incorrect.
