I highly recommend you look at Lakewood, zip codes 90712 and 90713, as well as Long Beach zip codes 90808, and 90807. These areas are nice, affordable middle class neighborhoods.
Torrance is nice as well but I’m not too familiar with it. I’ve lived in Westchester and while it’s nice, it’s pretty much the same as Lakewood and Long Beach but it’s more expensive and there’s less shopping. Palos Verdes and El Segundo (as well as the other beach communities west of the 405) are a little more expensive, if that’s what you’re going for.
