    Is there no such thing as personal liability any more? Is everything someone else’s fault? One thing brought up on that lawsuit was that there wasn’t a “proper warning label” that… DUH… coffee is hot.

    Nah…There is no excuse for McDonalds. From what I read (correct me if I’m wrong) hundreds of people have been burned by their coffee. They want to continue to serve it scorching, ok…as much money as this corporation has is it going to inconvenience them one iota to put a warning label on the damn cup?? “warning: coffee is extremely hot”.

    Not only that, but she asked for money to cover treatment costs that literally burned off her skin. $20k and MickyD’s would have been done with it. But, no, a billion dollar corporation chose to be greedy and it bit ’em in the arse. They got what they deserved.

    There is personal responsibility sure, but there is responsibility for the products you make available to the public.

    Wow, how could I forget the impressive logic in “stick it to the billion-dollar corporation”? Actually I’m quite concerned so for all the Marions and Stellas out there:

    warning: sex causes babies
    warning: falling down stairwells may cause harm
    warning: drills drill
    warning: hole punchers punch holes
    warning: staples staple things
    warning: glue makes things stick together
    warning: matches cause fire
    warning: scissors cut things
    warning: bleach is poisonous
    warning: hot things are hot and it is not recommended that you pour them on your vagina

    How about this: “special” consumers like Stella get tattoos on their foreheads saying “Warning: this person may hurt herself and sue you.” Has anyone seen “Idiocracy”? It was funny but also kinda scary… Check it out! We’re getting there!

    Also check out these lawsuits. Some of them are hilarious, all of them are a rude awakening about law in this fine, young country.

    I guess it would be oh so unjust and unfair to ask that a corporation that has the financial resources to put a warning label on a coffee cup considering that customers have been injured in the past.

    Oh the horror!

    I am not of the mindset to take advantage of people/companies. I see MickyD’s side AND I see this woman’s side. What I am saying is that a little thing like a warning because their coffee is very, very hot is prudent, imo.
