IMO, having politicians force the modification of legal contracts undermines personal property rights and the entire legal system – essentially telling the world that America is a banana republic that modifies the laws to suit its own purposes
Thoughts?
Sometimes I wonder if jealously holding “private property” is not part of our base nature too. It doesn’t matter who holds it Kings or serfs. Modern day serfs think they are kings because they are propertied but the current system just lets the Kings dominate that system through mortgages and to and extent taxes still. The old system just let the king take all the labor and goods they wanted from the serfs. When Our vanity, greed and fear get carreid away in this game of private property we get up to where we are now. Rinse, lather, repeat.
Borders are an extension of this sickness of human spirit. Look what that does for us.
Not saying that I don’t believe in participating with some self interest in the parameters I find myself. The alternative is for saints and martyrs. Hopefully we will play this game with some modesty, humility and respect, because it is a big part of surviving here now. I just think I won’t go to extremes to worry about laws that protect the system ,related to my own play in the private property game, because it means I am as base as it is. Although I have a lot of respect for much of the Law, Law does not = ethics but comes about to support desired conditions.According to whose desires?
