Beginning last year, I noticed some UCSD students live in Mira Mesa instead of La Jolla because of the high rent in LJ.

That’s exactly what I did for my last 2-years of UCSD. This was back in the late 90’s, and I knew a lot of UCSD students living in Mira Mesa. The only problem was that you’d have to leave 2-3 hours early if you had any afternoon or evening classes, because the 805 onramp from Mira Mesa Blvd was brutal any time after 2pm. I remember a few days where it took me 2 hours to get to class, when it would normally take 15 minutes.
