McCain’s new proposal to fix housing market

In last nights debate, McCain announced a new proposal to fix the housing market. Here’s what he said:

“As president of the United States, I would order the Secretary of the Treasury to immediately buy up the bad home loan mortgages in America, and renegotiate at the new value of those homes, at the diminished value of those homes, and let people be able to make those payments and stay in those homes. Is it expensive? Yes.”

Now, I try to stay out of the McCain/Obama debate because I think they are both idiots, but I hear this and I just can not for one second fathom how anyone on this board could be pro McCain. This has got to be one of the most morally corrupt and stupid bailout proposals that I’ve ever heard. And if nothing else, it totally flies in the face of all traditional republican values of anti-socialism. So, I ask those of you who are posting pro McCain on this site, how the heck can you feel that way when this kind of nonsense comes out of your candidate’s mouth?

And one last thing, don’t give me the Obama is worse argument, I’m not supporting him either. My question isn’t which is better, my question is how can anyone possibly support this kind of nonsense with a straight face?

I wanted to support him like I did back when it was him or the idiot cowboy. But I just cant. I have been having a crisis of voter confidence becauase I just CANT support this. I am looking for a 3rd part canadate, someone who actually deserves to be in office. I havnt found one yet, but maybe one more vote could be one more step to getting them federal funding and press exposure. I just really dont like voting AGAINST someone. The “I dont care who it is as long as it isnt him” voting scheme has way to many unforseen problems.

I’m eagerly awaiting for one of the candidates to say “Housing prices are too high, they need to fall to correct further and raise affordability”.

The McCain plan is the opposite of what I feel we need. Let the FBs lose their homes, and let’s start over.
