While admittedly annoying, I think that debating sharpens the mind and forces you to think through your answers carefully. You will always have to defend your point of views through fact, reasoning, and history. (That’s the theory anyways). That’s the beauty of this American system. I forgot the person who said this, he said the American election system is not perfect, but it is excellent. Having to debate the issues and the worst thing that happens is an occasional name-calling is a pretty fine system compared to the rest of the world. I mean, think about it – we are debating which person is best suited to lead the country. There is no such pretense in most other countries, believe me.
Marion: You’ve established pretty well that you’re an Obama supporter and you believe him to be the best man for the job. Exactly how did you come to that realization? Most of the arguments that I (and Allan for that matter) have seen for supporting Obama have boiled down to the following:
a) Bush sucks
b) Bush sucks a lot
c) Bush is a warmonger
d) Obama is not Bush
e) You’re a neocon!Any good points of Obama that make him to you the most qualified to be President that deviate from the above list would be helpful points to argue on.
As for me being Chancellor, thank you Allan, but I am at least knowledgeable enough of myself to know that I am nowhere near qualified or able to rule. Unlike Barack Obama…
