They didn’t value the cost of a stressed out wife/family living in a rental. Wifes values ‘roots/community’ more than money!!!
I think there are some women who think otherwise. Some of the women Piggs such as myself have no problem renting. I think it’s easier if you’re in a rental you really like.
I’d like to take some of those women who have to have a house and talk to them to understand. Maybe even explain to them how renting might be better than buying. Extra money to shop, travel. Really there’s an easy way for men to convince their wives the benefits of renting if they took the time and if their wives have any brain cells.
Of course, some of the beauty queen wives may lack a few brain cells (j/k!)
About 6 of my close women friends rent. At this point the stigma of renting is dissipating. One out of the 6 had bought a house at peak and recently did a short sale, now renting. Three of the 6 have children.

Why is spending money on travel and whatever shopping you are thinking of, better than spending that money and time on a house in excess of some favorable own to rent calculus? As long as the money is “disposable”, which one would assume from the choices you give to do with it besides throw it away on a house, it sounds like a mere question of priorities at the time. On the other hand, with this “disposable” money, why can’t there be a choice or all three to satisfactory degrees? Something besides the fact that shopping is for girls?
