Participant
A comment on rents in Barcelona. Most places do NOT rent for mid 2000s. That is the asking price on craigslist. 2 units sat empty for several weeks, maybe a few months, while trying to get that price on Caminito Suero. I am fairly certain they rented more around $2300, sometimes less.
Darn! I wish I’d have negotiated our rent too, or at least the conditions (repainting)… We were so thrilled with the unit we found in Madrid -~1700 sf with nice south orientation and panoramic/hills view, granite countertops and wood floors, that we literally jumped on it at $2400 craigslist asking price….I haven’t seen one in Madrid in months and didn’t see since we moved, so that’s why we jumped… On the other hand in Barcelona, there were always a couple of rentals at least… and I wasn’t that keen on Barcelona…

GuestScarlett, I am not very impressed by Madrid. I think I visited your unit last month. A LOT of freeway noise mediocre condition and bad floor plan. In general everytime I decide I want to give La Jolla Colony a try I come away disappointed. Overall it is very overrated and overpriced.
