I was talking to a friend who was complaining that “girls” act sexy, that is they use seduction to get ahead; yet they complain they are harassed.
I said sexy is relative and you still need to get consent.
You have to ask “may I touch, please”.
We had a good laughThank you asking if you may touch.
Scaredy, as a lawyer what do you say? How would you write the contract?

You know, I was talking to some men who like to show off how rich they are. The funny thing is, they get so upset when people mug them. I know it’s ridiculous, but I guess you actually have to ask them: can I have some of your money? 😉

I think it’s pretty funny that many men, even those that claim to be open minded, still can’t get it through their head that it is entirely possibly for a woman to be beautiful and smart at the same time, but instead think that if she is beautiful and did well, she must have used looks to move up…often happens with dirty old men who are still single, probably for a good reason.
One of my late 20 something European colleagues is dealing with this all this time….She’s a data scientist, probably one of the most talented one on the team. it’s funny trying to watch men trying to hit on her all the time during happy hour.
She’s also the first one we put on a candidate’s interview schedule…. Because unlike most of the folks my team, she is the one that enjoys asking those brain teaser Google type software interview questions because she sort of likes seeing people squirm trying to solve them. lol…
But we obviously pair her with at least one other on the team…Why? Because when we use to send her into an interview by herself, you want to guess how many times a candidate would try to hit on her during the interview? I shit you not. And almost all the time, the candidate first thinks she’s the blondie from HR…..(our HR person is a guy lol)
The first time she mentioned it jokingly , freaked a lot of us out. We ended up sending at least two people per interview. and if the candidate even remotely went down that route, that interview terminated early….like immediately. I think some the candidates thought we were Tinder or something. go figure.

You have to seek affirmarive consent no matter what, even though some men believe that coming up to their hotel suites is consent enough.
I’m totally ok with the modern standards which do give women more power. All the more power to them.
1/2 the time women think I’m interested when I’m just being social. One time I asked a neighbor to dinner just because I needed to have dinner. Somehow the signals got crossed. I have the text messages to prove it, haha.
I do think Europeans are better at socializing and not getting wrong signals. A friendly gesture doesn’t mean you want more. And I appreciate women who look good all the time, just because they can. Hey, why not?
Oh, maybe it’s a real estate thing. I believe living isolated lives in the suburbs causes people to lose social skills. They have no clue. It’s funny to see American suburbanites in European cities. They are out of their elements.
Flu, your story clearly shows that women are objectified still. Men too to a lesser extent. A pretty boy is assumed to be gay and shallow. Beautiful people can’t get a break, can they?
