Can anyone recommend an International money market fund that can take advantage of the higher returns in countries like NZ (currently around 8 to 8.5%), Australia and also take advantage of the possibility of a continuing drop in value of the US dollar.
I realise the the NZ dollar is currently overvalued…but there are other currencies that are good buys.
I would think that investing in a basket of different currencies would be a good hedge against the possibility of continueing weakness in the US….but being lazy, I would rather find a fund that will do this for me.
I am starting to worry about wealth preservation and inflation. It looks like the printing press in running full steam ahead in the US and that’s not good for inflation.
If your employer offers a 401(k), I would suggest you select a well diversified portfolio of international funds to preserve your wealth. I did this about 2 years back (my 401(k) is 100% international), after getting mauled by during dot com bust and I am a happier man now. Don’t stick to international money markets alone. If you are young, you can afford to be more aggressive and invest in international stock funds. The key word is being 100% international.
