The MLRS system came on line after I got out of the Army, but I saw them in action during Gulf I, especially as minefield clearing systems (that explosive chain device is wicked cool) and they’re impressive.
Do you mean a MICLIC?

(not my site…but it’s the coolest video I could find of one in action).
I was a Combat Engineer during Gulf I. We trained on them, but never got to fire one.
I have seen MLRSs in action also. When I did, I thanked God I wasn’t on the other end. (a single vehicle can carpet a 1km square region with shaped-charge “bomblets” within 60 seconds.)
The AC-130s are unreal as well. The notion of a 105mm howitzer on an airplane is just nuts.
And we have the right to “bear” all these arms, correct? π

Pri: Combat Engineers? We loved you guys when I was in Rangers! Next to the freaks in EOD, you guys were a blast (pun intended) when it came to improvisation.
I’m a huge fan of Spooky and largely because he has gotten my ass out of a jam on more than one occasion. I don’t know if they still have beehive and flechette rounds in the ordnance mix on Spooky, but they used to and the effects of those rounds is unbelievable.
I used to bust up laughing when General Electric used to have those “We bring good things to life” TV commercials. Uh, yeah.

Of course, everybody loved us. We took care of things…dig a trench, clear a minefield, whatever.
My war stories are pretty pathetic compared to yours though. For many years I wish I had some interesting ones to tell, but now I’m old enough to know better.
