Some would argue that you should ask a different question: Why not get high when you have achieved a pinnacle of success like that? Because he’ll win 4 or 7 golds next time instead of 8? If anything, he’s a perfect example of how smoking pot doesn’t necessarily turn you into a fat, lazy, munchie-craving retard. In many ways I think it is the Phleps incident that has re-ignited this whole debate. He has people are thinking, “well shit, that dude smokes pot and won 8 gold medals and is in peak physical condition and is on top of the world… it must not be so bad!”
