On my way to work this morning, I hear the newcasters complain that they can’t make it to the funeral. The only ones who know where the burial site is the Amish people.
It is a terrible tragedy, and it is a compelling story. The media as covered it enough, and it’s time to move on. Why do they have to stalk these poor people while they bury their little girls?
Why do the American people need to hear a play-by-play of the funeral services? I’m glad the Amish have a secret burial ground. Maybe it will keep those psycho church activists from their planned protest as well.
The media needs to learn when it’s the appropriate time to cut a “story” loose.
The media is generally more concerned about headlines than people, although I have met a few good reporters. I worked media in the military and the most disgusting incident I have ever seen involved the media and the wives of soldiers who were deployed during the war. I caught a reporter from a local TV station saying to his assistant, “See if you can make them cry.” This solidified my already low opinion of the media.
