Kitchen Remodel – Recommendations?

A lot of people are choosing to have the contractor bid labor only in todays market. The contractor can refer the designer or work with the owner’s designs/designer and or choice of suppliers. On the other hand the contractor can provide full service as well.

I am a General Contractor besides a realtor. While I am not available until the fall, I would be interested in bidding this type of work along the I-8 and I-94 corridors. I am also glad to provide a sounding board for construction and real estate related needs to piggs under any circumstances.

Is it worth upgrading to Granite counter tops?

I have friends in Carlsbad who are planning on selling their $650K house soon. They have got multiple bids to upgrade their kitchen counters and backsplash to granite. The bids all came in around $12K. The current counter tops and back splashes are white tile and look quite respectable. Is it worth doing the upgrade or should they keep their list price $12K lower?

How big is the kitchen? How many slab would it takes to cover the whole kitchen? For 2 slabs, prices I’ve seen when upgrading my kitchen range from $3k – $10k. If they’re upgrading to sell, I’d assume they’d pick the cheapest granite, right? Which means $3k for 2 slabs, that would be one HUGE kitchen.
