This is small, serviceable house in the middle of Mission Hills. Built in 1915, she only has two beds and just over 1000 sqft. On street parking only. Back in 1984, she sold for $72,000. It was a humble start for our dame.
Then comes The Bubble. (Insert melodramatic music here…) In August of ’06, she sells for $525,000. In December of that same year, she sells for over $200,000 more– $720,000!!! Things are looking bright for our formerly forlorn fancy. In another week or two, she’d be worth a cool million!!!
Then, crash. From the MLS pix, she’s been stripped of her dignity. Bare wires, dirty toilets, even the towel racks aren’t attached.
Is there any explanation other than collective insanity?
Yeah, that’s fraud. The bank should have NEVER GIVEN out a 720k loan on that thing. Good lord. Someone walked away with a ton on the bank’s money. Too bad the banks are too stupid to go after crooked appraisers/agents.
