Here come the bank fees……

Don’t complain……just walk.
Note, I’ve never been employed by any credit union, nor any other financial institution for that matter. I’m only a consumer looking out for my best interest. I refuse to be a chump.

This is the essence of capitalism: voting with your dollars…or your feet.
October 2, 2011 at 9:21 AM #729956svelteParticipantI’ve never had a bank account either. Credit Unions rule. Although they can be frustrating to deal with sometimes too, I’ve never felt I was paying too much for Credit Union services.
I hear all the horror stories about banks from friends and family and have no desire to ever get a bank account. BofA seems to be the worst offender from the feedback I get, I noticed that about 10 years ago.

Yep. Just spent at least an hour this past month fighting new fees at US Bank (former SDNB account got switched over when SDNB failed). They wanted $12.95/month for a checking account! Needless to say, I told her that we would be out of there in the blink of an eye if they tried to charge us to use our money. They reversed the charges, but we will be moving to a credit union after the 180 days are up (to avoid other fees to closing the account too soon!).

Also…Other than transaction fees on merchants, the credit card companies have never made a dime on me. I run up huge charges probably 70-80K year, have never carried a balance, paid a late fee, or other crap charge.
Thanks Credit Card companies for the interest free loans over the years.

savings account and schedule an automatic transfer from checking(I do $25 per month and then transfer it back) they will waive their checking account fee. Also, if your savings account hits 1K they will send you a $50 visa card and if you maintain the 1K for a year, they send you another $50 visa card. I think it is called their START savings program.
So I am going to stick with US bank for at least another year or so.
I think the back offices of these banks are all pretty much the same. For me it all comes down to what the local branch folks can do for you.

I refuse to be a bank bitch, checking chump.

Curious if some of you moved over to CUs in recent year.

I haven’t moved into a CU, though I’m about to get a loan product from one… I stuck with Charles Schwab for everything, and kept Wells Fargo as a side backup.
Schwab is really fee-less…I can use just about any ATM domestic and international, and they will reimburse me at the end of the month for any fee I pay.
March 2, 2012 at 9:08 AM #739128FearfulParticipantI opened my first bank account in several decades, not counting Schwab’s obligatory Schwab Bank.
It’s with Chase.
They’re paying me $200 to park $1,500 there for six months. If my numbers don’t fail me that’s better than a 25% annual return. Finally I get to stick it to the bank like they stick it to the credit card holders.

My wife looked at me like I was from Mars when I told her I had said I never had a bank account. She reminded me I had a Wells Fargo account when we met.
I blame the lapse of memory on the fog that permeated my very being during those years.

Wow, I just now saw this. If that’s the case, a visit to the local branch is in order.
Thank you, Kingside!
