Skip dinner if you are not very hungry. Just skip it… or just have a healthy snack at some point, if that will do.Even if it is unhealthy, a less than perfectly healthy snack is better than a full meal that you don’t need. The full dinner probably has a least as large of an unhealthy component anyway, besides all the additional calories. This is surprisingly easy to do(especially if you just eat the desert).
I bet most people are not very hungry for dinner at least 2 or 3 times per week.Many have a big meal out of habit or because they or someone else went to the trouble of making it. I always make it a point to say “I love you” to the cook,in some fashion, when I refuse to eat a big meal someone prepared. Don’t skip this last part.July 30, 2010 at 9:15 AM #584477NotCrankyParticipantSkip dinner if you are not very hungry. Supposedly, one should eat a big breakfast and lunch, and a very very light dinner.

July 30, 2010 at 9:18 AM #584381CoronitaParticipant
I have to agree w/ocr on the juice. I see so many parents giving kids juice all day long thinking it’s healthy and better than sodas. But juice is lacking fiber and it’s fruit broken down to sugar, basically. People swarm Jamba Juice thinking they’re healthy by having smoothies. Sugar is addicting, whether carbs or juice. That’s what makes it hard to give up.
I do eat fruit, whatever is in season, apples, blueberries, apricots. But I rarely have juice. I might go for a Green Machine once in a while. That’s not all fruit juice. Last weekend I went to Ki’s and had a Super Mix w/beet, carrot, celery, spinach juice. Wasn’t the tastiest, sweetest thing to touch my tongue. Washed it down w/some wheatgrass. I really had energy the rest of the day.
Once your body is purified, it really uses and absorbs nutrients. But as I said, it’s not fun. My husband eats ice cream and I eat an apricot. {sigh}
Juice is bad for other reasons for kids. Cavities…
jpinpb…Actually, the best thing to get for your hubbie is a popsicle and/or ice cream maker. At least then you have some control over the ingredients…. My kid doesn’t eat any bought popsicle anymore…
I use a small blender and grind fresh fruit to a pulp, which then I add yogurt/etc to a popsicle mold. Works pretty well, and like eating a fruit…
1) Popsicle molds :
2) Small blender:
Key here is cleanup is a snap… (just wash a cup and a small blade)… I hate the big blenders because of the cleanup…Same reason why my juicer is sitting way back in the end kitchen closet (anyone want to buy one ? :))
I use this blender everyday, from making drinks to grinding coffee beans to getting vegetable pulp..
(You can find ones made in Korea which are slightly better quality than the ones from China at the Korean supermarket “Zion Supermarket” off of Mercury St in Kearny Mesa. They also have have better good produce at cheap prices… (just don’ take extra plastic bags without using them, or they will charge you for those…cheap bastards)…
