You need to shop around. The only thing that is nuts is accepting status quo. With respect to rents I found a 3 bed 2 bath home in PB owned outright and the person simply wants a nice family to live there. Asking 1650 rent. There are fair rents out there. You just need to shop around.

October 2, 2008 at 9:54 PM #279802JCParticipantGood point. I let my landlord know that the day he raises my rent I am out the door. I also let him know (in a very nice way) that the online sites that quote normal rental rates indicated that the new rate was very, very high. Of course, I do not know where they get their data from, but…
I am just super disappointed for other people. I was trying to help a friend of a friend find an affordable place. 900 is a lot of money for average salaries here, espcecially to sign up to live in a crap hole.
I will definitely suggest that he broaden his search.

Since it costs $8800 a year to edumacate my son and I don’t pay any property taxes directly I guess it’s not such a bad deal, but I’m still looking. Even though it still makes sense to rent, I would still like to be able to afford to buy and that is why I must wait a little longer.
