Participant
AN, I was joking about him moving to temecula, I was trying to drive home a point about being “pushed inland” vs. income ratios. It’s all about balance and he has to find his. Some people would prefer a closer drive, some would prefer to rent, some prefer to not have kids. The point is, decisions will have to be made because on 100k, you don’t get it all, you don’t get a half million dollar home on the coast and a stay at home wife, you pick the sacrifice that works for you. I like him, he has his head screwed on straight and is thinking about it ahead of time as opposed to afterwards, me, I make my mistakes first, then learn.
I totally agree with that. I know people who chose big house instead of commute. 100k won’t get you very far these days.February 2, 2010 at 2:59 PM #508318an

ParticipantI say Go for the Big house, Your wife can say home with the kid’s maybe even do that home schooling and soccer mom thing.
If your 100K job is like my 100K job you don’t have a lot of time during the week anyway.
Besides they are always going to be playing video games at the neighbors anyway.
Just kidding !!! (sort of)

Sorry but you don’t need a big house to all of that. Since you said time is limited, why waste any more time than you have to on the road? I rather spend that time with my kid. He grows up fast nough as it is. But I guess do whatever float your boat.February 2, 2010 at 7:46 PM #508402an
