$70 every other week, wife pays for it,unless she is short on cash, then I kick in some. She cleans about 4 hours each time,by the next day it’s dirty again.

Why does it take 8 hours to clean the house and why does it requires cleaning every 2 weeks.
Kids. They’re gross.
Yup. I never paid a house cleaner except for moving out of a new apartment before having a kid. Given the choice between spending a couple hours on the weekend cleaning or taking him to the beach, playground, etc, it’s worth it to us to have more family time.
We pay $90 every two weeks to clean our 3/2 SFH. She spends most of her time in the kitchen, along with scrubbing the sinks, bathtub and toilets.

If our house is cleaned on Thursday it’s actually not too bad until Saturday night or Sunday. So we get at least a day or two of clean house!
June 30, 2015 at 12:35 PM #787676fun4vnay2ParticipantNever paid anyone to clean
I do the cleaning on my own and when I do, I reduce the time in gym 🙂June 30, 2015 at 2:00 PM #787677EssbeeParticipantWe are paying $130 for once a month service on about 3800 sf, 6BR/5BA house. I think she spends the entire day there, and does a good job. Since it is only once a month, we of course have to do a lot of other cleaning ourselves, but we feel good knowing that the toilets/sinks/tubs/counters are more thoroughly cleaned, and everything is thoroughly dusted and vacuumed, at least once a month.

Totally agree. I could spend the time cleaning on a weekend, but choose to spend the money so I have more time with the family. Plus, I’m in the business of selling time (CPA) and it makes more financial sense to outsource the cleaning based on the hourly rate my time is billed at.
June 30, 2015 at 8:43 PM #787684RealityParticipantI’ve used Molly Maids (or Merry Maids can’t remember) in the past. I think it was $48/hour for two of them.
These days I just clean it myself. Not that hard except for carpet cleaning which I will hire someone every few years to do.

By wife pays you mean you pay right? Or are funds that segregated?
Who pays the mortgage?
July 1, 2015 at 12:26 PM #787688FlyerInHiGuestClean a little bit everyday and put things away immediately. If you don’t make a mess, then you have nothing to clean.
I like to keep my place nice and tidy, always ready to receive company.

July 1, 2015 at 1:22 PM #787691fun4vnay2ParticipantI am also in the biz of selling time ie consulting but doing chores put my mind in meditative state and thus refreshes my mind.
I love doing household chores on my own as my job is mentally very exhaustive like all of us probably..

Seems like getting on your knees and moping the floor is good stretching and exercise.
