Housing Bubble Stories

I’m making a TV documentary for the Nova science strand on PBS about bubbles…and new scientific ways to understand how asset bubbles form (from the tulip mania to the present day) and how social moods form that can convince investors…”this time it’s different”. I’m in San Diego for a couple of days for interviews with an economist and wondered how to find interesting stories from real people who lived thru the bubble, and felt it’s pull. Especially looking for people who over-extended themselves and can now look back and understand better how they got personally caught up in the mood of the time. BTW, no offense, but that is a pretty overdone story. I think we geeks who rode out the bubble in rentals and resisted peer pressure and stigma because we are math geeks, we are a much more interesting story for the PBS demographic. Actually, we are the PBS demographic, nevermind.
