Setting aside economic considerations, it has been my feeling lately that houses are kind of gross. Well, the houses I have lived in the last 10 years are gross. Maybe it’s just the depressed times we live in, but our current house just seems foul. We have rats int he garage, and they were living under the house too. The floor is kind of creaky and it’s an old manufactured home that just doesn’t seem like it will last. the stove is messed upand the landlord is dragging his feet. It has a great view and everything, but that’s not the house, that’s just where the house is. The walls are of course hollow and rats and mice can live in there. We had a place 8-9 years ago that just had hordes of cockroaches living outside, with some inside. Weird. I mean like HORDES outside. in all the discussion about housing economics, it sometimes strike sme thata house can be a disgusting thing. I would prefer a house made of adobe, with no space in the walls, and a toilet outside the house, preferably a composting toilet. And no rats. And perhaps a thatched roof. It’s kind of neat when they go up in value, but it doesn’t negate the fact for me that most houses are somewhat repulsive living arrangements.
Rats and bugs are edible. Consider them emergency rations in case the economy completely tanks as well as the government and you run out of canned food.
