House hunting

We are in escrow on current home.

So far, so good….. We passed all inspections, but have the contingency release date of January 26 still to pass. We did a 60 day escrow (closing March 9) and the new owners want to rent back to us until June if we don’t find anything sooner.

I really don’t want to enlist a realtor and waste their time until I am totally sure this whole thing is going to happen and have the money in hand to turn and buy a new house…but I am starting to look. Thought maybe the piggs could help?

Shadowridge area of Vista, attached is our dream house. Three car garage, plenty of space, backs up to open space, perfect location for us. I spoke with listing agent, she was very nice, but home already contingent:

Other neighborhood we are considering backs up to Calaveras preserve in Oceanside: I actually looked in this house, total mess not worth anywhere near $360,000 needs $50,000 worth of work. I don’t think the listing agent likes me, doesn’t seem to want my offer.

I have been cruising the neighborhoods, but nothing really that interesting right now. I am trying to figure out how to research foreclosures. We are really active and have 2 large active crazy dogs. Kids and husband want a pool. We would like a fixer upper, I have specific taste and would prefer not to pay top dollar for someone’s flip that is not up to my standards. Cosmetic basic fixer upper, not prepared for structural issues. Redo kitchen/bath, flooring, paint kind of updating fixer.

Another option we are considering is buying a small cheap fixer upper and living in it until we find our dream home, then either renting that out or selling it. We would have the cash to do both once we close on current home.

Dawson just went contingent on the 13th. They still have a ways to go for an approval and buyer fatigue could easily set in. If its your dream house stay on it.

Check 4972 Skyhawk in 92056 also. Same schools. Its an REO that has been pending for close to 2 months. Something could be up.
