I was just looking at the OP’s link, which listed Livermore (CA, where cow pasture and grapes meet “Big Development”) as Refin’s 5th “hottest area” for 2013.
Good L@rd. Livermore is not “Lizardland.” It is current/former cow pasture. HOWEVER, it is w-a-a-a-a-y out there on the 205 and just a hop and a skip from that VERY heavily-distressed outlier known as “Tracy.” The closet BART station is in Dublin …. ~26 miles away (which is essentially meaningless, due to sheer traffic volume).
For the life of me, why would workers be attracted to Livermore, unless they work at the Lawrence Livermore Lab? Am I missing something? I just drove thru there again last year and Livermore (with its infamous “cow” statue), is part of my old “stomping grounds.”
IIRC, the older stock in Livermore has good-sized lots and I think it would be a very nice place to “retire.” But to commute from it every weekday to work?? Maybe this was feasible back in 1965 on 2-4 lane state hwys to no further than Oakland . . . but today??
Uhhhh, I don’t think so.
January 14, 2013 at 4:04 PM #757706anParticipantBased on current active listing $/sq-ft (up 27% from same time last year) and current sales-to-list % (100.48%), it seems like we’re set up for another big year, unless either of those two stat drops off. Even compare to September, $/sq-ft list price is up 23%.
January 14, 2013 at 4:17 PM #757707bearishgurlParticipantI was just perusing Wiki and noticed that Livermore now has two stops for the ACE, a commuter train from Stockton to SJ. A LIV to SJ one-way trip takes one hour, seven minutes.

It also stated a petition drive had been undertaken by a fmr mayor of Dublin to bring the BART all the way out to Livermore but I do not know if the idea ever made it on the ballot as it would be VERY expensive to do so.

No you don’t… As long as more people don’t want to live in lizardland mira mesa, that’s less people that will buy in this area…
Besides who wants to live in stucco boxes here. It’s hot, there’s no parking on the streets. It’s a dump, and the rental pool sucks….
If you know folks that works at companies like BlackRock, please let them know that too, so they look elsewhere.
Please people, go away.. MM is not where you want to be… It sucks. It really does. Just ask AN…He doesn’t think anyone should buy in MM too.

haha, you’re funny flu. It’s futile man. the cat is out of the bag. Everyone knows it except for those lucky few to still wonder why anyone would want to live in lizardland.January 14, 2013 at 10:22 PM #757721enron_by_the_seaParticipantOthers are picking this story up also (see http://www.businessinsider.com/the-hottest-neighborhoods-in-america-in-2013-2013-1?op=1)
Moving trucks are being loaded up all over America now soon to be heading towards Mira Mesa as we speak …
January 15, 2013 at 7:04 AM #757725ltsdddParticipantCalifornians are fleeing the state to MM to avoid higher taxes.
…or folks are mistaken MM for Mexico.
January 15, 2013 at 7:29 AM #757726ocrenterParticipantI didn’t realize Hmart’s opening had such profound effect… 🙂
January 15, 2013 at 7:53 AM #757729carlsbadworkerParticipantYeah, but imagine what will happen when Zion’s new store opens to take away Hmart’s business.
January 15, 2013 at 2:19 PM #757731The-ShovelerParticipantWell speaking of up and coming neighborhoods + Asian super markets.
They got a “88 ranch” opening up on the corner of Rancho California road and Ynez Road in Temecula (Yea OK I know it’s not same as ranch-99). But with a little luck they will put a few more Asia restaurants in there as well.
We need a good dim-sum place.Anyone know where you can get good Dim sum on a Sunday morning in TV ?
Also lately I know more people commuting from SD north country into Temecula Valley for work then the other way, but I am fairly sure I am the exception, but at the same time I think it indicates a trend as well.
Plus TV is getting a little air time, they got a Storage wars episode where they show “the gambler” living in Temecula.January 15, 2013 at 5:18 PM #757759gzzParticipantJanuary 15, 2013 at 5:30 PM #757760anParticipant
http://sdheadliner.com/neighborhoods/ocean-levels-rise-drastically-overnight-mira-mesa-now-beachfront-property/
Until that day come, MM is a gang infested cesspool. So, please stop looking to buy here.January 15, 2013 at 6:20 PM #757764scaredyclassicParticipant
Well speaking of up and coming neighborhoods + Asian super markets.

I think temecula might be ready for a super high end coffee place something artisanal and super cool.
