      Just want to start a thread that sheds light on the economic slowdown as it relates to the Job market.

      A couple of companaies that had high paying wages that have been either shut down or slowed down dramatically. A few that I am aware of include

      Accredited Home Lendere

      College Loan Corp

      Goal Financial

      New Century Financial

      These companies are all in the area of finance.

      Can others expand on this list of companies that they are aware of or on the flip side list compnies that are growing or increasing their payroll for higher paying jobs

      I know quite a few people that left Accredited, it was hit hard. They knew their time would be up soon so they jumped ship

      I interviewed there (accredited) 2 years ago. Seemed like a sweatshop. Its never a good sign when everyone that interviews you has an Indian accent. Since they were acquired by Loanstar in a buyout I can’t imagine they’ve been hiring.

      On another note, my company is hiring, we are a small web design firm specializing in FLEX based websites. Although I am a Java developer they are hiring for both.

      I interviewed there (accredited) 2 years ago. Seemed like a sweatshop. Its never a good sign when everyone that interviews you has an Indian accent. Since they were acquired by Loanstar in a buyout I can’t imagine they’ve been hiring.
