“Among the many misdeeds of the British rule in India, history will look upon the Act depriving a whole nation of arms as the blackest.” Mahatma Gandhi
Fear the Government that fears your guns.
Gandalf: I think your observation about ammunition shortages is probably a combination of the uncertainty of our times right now and a legitimate fear that, with Obama in office, the government will be coming after our guns again.

FYI on a drive back from Vegas I stopped at “Outdoor World” which is about the awesomest store I’ve ever been in. Along with camping/hiking/fishing/all outdoor gear they have good ammo, the same you can get here, for about half the price. I think there’s a branch in Riverside as well.

It’s pretty bizarre to hear urban, white collar professionals discussing those “Mad Max” scenarios in an almost commonplace fashion. I actually had a discussion with a financial services guy about which handguns were best in a gunfight. That was weird.
Check out “Cheaper than dirt dot com” for good deals on bulk ammo purchases. You need to be selective, especially with Berdan versus Boxer primed ammo, but you can find some great deals on surplus military grade stuff.
I’ve started “rolling my own” again (I got my Dillon reloader dusted off and operating), so I’ve been bulk buying brass, primers, powder and bullets in bulk. Availability has not been a problem, but I’m sticking with .45, 9mm and .30-06 for now.
