Its a car scaredy. Its just car. Its not a political statement. You arent going to save the environment. You are going from point a to point b. That is all you are doing. It is transportation. Its not who you are. Its just a car
April 12, 2024 at 4:09 PM #903113FuturescaredyParticipanti guess then I’ll just go buy a pair of those new gold trump sneakers, too, cause they’re so cool looking; who cares if they’re trump branded.
I didn’t say I was excluding the possibility of a Tesla, just that my disgust for elon has to be compensated with some money. I am definitely for sale, but my disgust requires a decent discount. I need it less, nowadays, because I bought a faster ebike. 28 mph.
April 13, 2024 at 9:52 AM #903114sdrealtorParticipantSorry but that is a false equivalency. Buying a pair of Trump branded sneakers are buying an inferior product which are nothing more than a political/fashion statement and a poor one at that. Buying a Tesla is buying a great car that brings tremendous value.
The other driver that hit me insurance company asked if they could share the videos with their insured. They took their statement then showed them the videos I sent over. The adjuster I spoke with yesterday was laughing when she said “yeah those videos are pretty compelling, our insured is at full fault, we’ll send an appraiser out and issue payment. Would you prefer a check or Zelle?”
April 13, 2024 at 7:47 PM #903115CoronitaParticipantI’m waiting to see how solid state batteries work out. In the meantime, I figure get an ICE car that tops out with an 8500 redline while you still can, heh heh.
April 13, 2024 at 11:09 PM #903116FuturescaredyParticipantOk maybe the sneakers are a dumb comparison. Still, Elon irks me. It’s not about the earth, I no longer care at all. We are doomed and nothing anyone does matters anymore. I’d just like musk to fail. We need more assholes to lose, I think, if life will be tolerable as we wind down civilization.
Seems to me people have become more aggressive and insane in the last few years. I had a minor interaction on a street with a guy who became enraged and chased me. We are both in our 60s. He might’ve been 70. Fortunately he was a big fat guy and I’m a skinny fast guy, but I was still thinking this was going to end in a fight. I ended up running into a restaurant and he was blocking the entrance, yelling in. Had he entered, the plan was to throw glassware, plates, chairs at him and grab a knife. I thought one of us might die.
The staff was trying to kick me out of the restaurant because this maniac was yelling at me and wouldn’t leave.
It was pretty scary. My crime: I was walking. Had the light. He zipped right in front of me in an suv to turn right. I tapped on the back of his car with my hand.
For that, he was prepared to kill me.
For this reason, I will not buy a Tesla. Also, never, no matter how obnoxious a thing anyone does, call them out on it, unless you are ready to fight.
I also now always have pepper spray in pocket ready to go.
Yeah, I know, I shouldn’t have touched his car.
His crazy wife was screaming at him to get me!
April 13, 2024 at 11:22 PM #903117FuturescaredyParticipantWhat a dumb way it would’ve been to die. Still …would’ve been satisfying to spray that old douchebag in the face with a bunch of pepper spray.
April 14, 2024 at 5:59 PM #903118CoronitaParticipantI think that might be a Temecula thing. But one huge advantage of Tesla’s is 360 degree cameras.
I put a front and rear dashcam into all my cars with parking mode. You never know these days.
April 21, 2024 at 4:17 PM #903148FuturescaredyParticipantI believe that it is a national trend. That the number of assholes and their intensity is rising, steeply.
May 12, 2024 at 12:24 PM #903156phasterParticipantThe first EV I purchased was a two wheel electric beach cruiser,… rode it around for a few years but wanted an EV that was freeway legal that also could carry a few bags of groceries
So pre-covid put in some venture capital into a startup that designed and produced something classified as a motorcycle (but with three wheels),…
Thought the startup was going places (especially since Hollywood types were on board with the concept)
Sigh,… unfortunately the vehicle failed to catch the public’s imagination AND the Chinese made OEM components were not made to last, so basically am writing off a bunch of money “invested” along with the vehicle (because I can’t find electrical components needed to make the thing operate)
Basically at the moment the only EV I want to buy,… isn’t for sale in the USA

That’s what we did. Rebate applies to the lease while it wouldn’t to a purchase. Seems like govt is supporting the new car treadmill game.
