What I like about Hannity is his working class background. He is not one of the east coast elite. What I do not like is his sidekick Colmes. I always want to have Sean slap some sense into him.
I do not know why the County is so adamant about a new self-contained RV, Rustico, when there are many examples of people clearly living in them all around without benefit of them being self-contained. It sounds like someone called Code Enforcement on your neighbors. It is not that easy to get them to take any action.
Aecetia,
I was going to mention that it was his working class background that I liked about him.
You would like Michael Medved too. He comes on from 12 to 3 pm on 1170 am.

August 3, 2008 at 11:01 AM #251388AecetiaParticipantThanks, John. I am actually trying to wean myself off talk radio and get outside more. I needed to limit my listening to something that does not raise my blood pressure, so I am listening to a Jazz station. It is more relaxing. I still listen to Rush occasionally because he usually has news that I have not read. Between this forum and limited television news, I probably get all I need. Now I will step back and wait for the onslaught of hate mail from all the people who hate the right in general and Rush in particular.

No sense in getting excited about someone living in upper class El Cajon being a right winger.
You are right that somebody probably reported them. It could have been someone growing marijauna who didn’t want them around or it could have been the king of the hill who just built a huge McMansion and didn’t like the RV in their view. Either way the people got kicked off rural, private property when they were not hurting anybody and more importantly had found a reasonable, suitable and affordable way to live.
What was their offense not spending money? Not raising the tax base? Not following some nimby ideal for the local aesthetic?
I don’t see outright graft in my dealings. I See arbitrary or exaggerated impositions that become fees or costs to third parties or delay or other nusiances mostly manifested by a bullying or unresponsive and incompetent bureaucracy which is to a large degree as John said, “an interest group unto themselves”.
On the other hand I see, as you do lack of enforcement including sometimes egregious situations because the nature of the incident or offender makes it a burden on the county to follow through. So on the one hand if it is too much of a burden they turn an eye but if they can support someone important, grab a fee or penalty or create a job for someone and get away with it they are all over it.
