Googling addresses

I make a habit of Googling street addresses before I schedule a showing, much less submit an offer. This habit has turned up some interesting tidbits in the past (e.g. one house was listed as the business address for a cannabis club). But nothing quite matches yesterday’s find.

Listing: “GREAT SHAPE, READY TO MOVE IN”

Google brought up: “Would normally rent for $2000/mo but house was trashed by previous tenants.”

I stumbled upon the Registrar of Voters for San Diego county, on a 3rd party website – nearly 600K records.

The names, voter ID’s, addresses, party affiliation and whether they have voted or not on any election between November 2004 and June 2008.

More entrepreneurial spirit would probably find a way to monetize the data.

I do that and more…

I look up property tax records… You can usually find out the owners name. (Unless it’s held in a trust or corp.)

I look up the owner on the grant deed search – can see if the owner has a lot of judgements/ NODS or even owns a lot of properties…

In your case – it might be that they cleaned up the place after the tenant trashed it – and decided to sell rather than rent it out again…
