I think this is a fair and reasonable compromise for our society.Maybe the government thinks if it agrees to gay marriage, then it means they are condoning the lifestyle. What you guys have to realize is this nation was founded on Christianity. Our pledge of allegiance says, “In God we trust”.
1. Our nation was not founded on christianity. It was founded on freedom of religion.
2. Our pledge of allegiance does not say “in god we trust.”The pledge of allegiance does say “under god.” But a) it wasn’t even written until a hundred and twenty years after this country was founded and b) it doesn’t say “under the christian god.

You make good points on 5 reason for marriage, #6 There are legal issues such as living wills(?), etc, but most of them are covered by civil unions.
