I’m partial to the garage opening into the kitchen (or as close as possible). Our old house had the garage next to the kitchen, and it was fantastic — we could unload groceries, kids, etc. right there, and the floor wasn’t carpeted (no dirt coming into the house on the carpet).
I wish more homes had the garage next to the kitchen. Oddly enough, it’s hard to find this design.

I think a garage that enters into the MBR would be a negative, not a positive, in our evaluation of a property.
They way our house usually works is that we collect up whatever we are leaving with (keys, wallet, notebooks, whatever), give the dog a treat, then head out. Usually, we keep those objects in a drawer in either the kitch or office, except for the treats which are always in kitch. Having the door in the MBR wouldn’t work so great for us.

I too would rather have a detached garage connected through a breezeway to the main house.
Many houses back East are like that.
