January 19, 2008 at 11:25 AM #138771svelteParticipantWell we just wrapped up a complete remodel last year, wifey’s request. We hired an interior designer and bought all new Viking appliances, 6 sinks, 4 toilets, 2 tubs, 9 faucets, 10 light fixtures, and on and on. It came out so awesome the contractors took pics for their portfolios.
It’s all the stuff the guys on this forum hate: travertine, stainless, granite, wood floors but I have to tell you I love it as much as wifey. Very nice stuff. Yes, all these materials have their drawbacks, but so does any material. It’s a pick your poison type of situation.
We had sold our previous home and tried renting, but it didn’t work for us…I have a small sports car collection and couldn’t stand having them stored offsite, and wifey didn’t think the landlord would appreciate us installing the infamous pole from this thread…no, I’m not joking and it was her idea not mine! You’d be surprised at how many BRs we’ve seen with them, actually. It’s a whole new world out there. Our designer didn’t bat an eye. We were very unhappy renting so we bought a fixer and gutted it.
Neither of us are shoppers, so we are weary of making decisions and are now taking a breather before we start the next phase: furnishing the beast!
Was it worth it? Yeah, it was. Would we do it again? Not for another 10 to 15 years…too damn much work, even if you farm it out!

SWEEEEEEEEEEEET!!!! svelte’s got a stripper pole in his bedroom and a mental map of the area where the other ones are located. That is solid suburban intel when deciding which holiday party to attend. I applaud you svelte, now that is woman you marry, not just one that goes along but comes up with the idea, bravo.
renterclient, thanks for being the 12th man, egomaniacs always do better when cheered on.
marion, refer to the TG piggy manifesto rule 37a. “All posts after 11 p.m. will be contain sarcasm due to intoxication” and it wasn’t just some kind of joke, it was hilarious but not entirely untrue.
Meanandale, great now there’s another show I am going to have to watch to see if they are stealing my ideas, if I see that select comfort bed idea on T.V. I’m suing.
