Foreign Oil

Remember just a year ago when oil was $140 a barrel it seemed a like wonderful idea to get off of foreign oil because;
– They control the price and it is too expensive.
– It pays for terrorism.
– India and China are consuming more and it is only going to get worse.
– Giving money to dictators is a bad idea.
– We have the resources within our borders.
– Canada has 3 trillion barrels in its Alberta oil sands.
– It will get you elected.
– etc. times a million.

Now this issue has been dropped completely;
– All offshore drilling has been canceled.
– Drilling and looking for oil on federal lands has been banned.
– Thinking about drilling in Anwar is controlled by the thought police.
– Bankrupting the coal industry is talked about openly.
– Cap and Trade controls are on the agenda.
– The new hope source of energy is not even a theory yet.
– Our President bows to and kisses the ring of the Saudi King. Clearly stating our real policy.

I’m starting to send out letters to representatives asking a question.Here it is.

“A question for you.  Has it ever been considered to award money to any entity that develops any green energy that competes directly with oil or coal? Specifically to award the money only after the technology has demonstrated it’s viability. To me this kind of policy is the simplest and most obvious approach. I imagine that a cash prize of 5 billion would stir up a lot of competition and development.
