Florida may be cheap but the negatives are:
Humidity
Bugs
HurricanesThose three are enough to keep me away. Good place to lock in a vacation home to call my primary residence for sure down the road.
LAAFTERHOURS, I have a friend that’s thinking of buying a $79K condo down there, renting it out and calling it his “retirement home,” in name only, of course (for tax purposes). Guess he’d have to make a deal with his tenant to collect some mail for him – lol.

Maybe it was the election. … Seriously, 90 percent of the “weird news” in this country originates in Florida. Every notice that? Plus a family member of mine followed love to Florida (Orlando area) and remarked when he moved there that he was shocked by the naked prejudice (N-word blasts etc.). (I know, we just keep it to ourselves here.) And too much rain, and dangerous snakes and poisonous toads.
I also must have lift-serviced skiing within a couple of hours of my home, so Florida is out for me.

wow, smshorttimer, where do you live? I’m seriously thinking of retiring here . . .
. . . where I will be minutes from a gondola and lifts . . . on a free bus line!
There are SO MANY GOOD DEALS in S. Lake Tahoe RE right now. I sure wish I could buy an older home there and put it into rental service until I am ready to move in myself!
